Summer 2009 Class Schedule

Center Stage Performing Arts Academy offers students the chance to expand their talents and their love of the arts in many areas.  Our mission is to offer a comprehensive curriculum which will help students build self-esteem and become well rounded in ALL areas of the performing arts.  Our summer curriculum allows students the opportunity to try new things and explore new areas in a short time span.  Class sizes are limited, so sign up early!  Everyone is welcome.  You do not need to be a current student.  Please call for more information, 563-391-3174.  (All prices include tax and must be paid in full by the first class)

Summer Musical Theatre Intensive: Thoroughly Modern Millie (entering grade 6 & up)

Participants will learn what it takes to put together a show starting with auditioning and then following the rehearsal process through to their final performance--a full length production, the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie.  All participants WILL appear onstage in the show.  Auditions during the first few days of the Intensive will determine which parts will be played by which students.  The show will perform on Friday, July 24 at 7pm and Saturday, July 25 at 2pm and 7pm.

Note: This class requires a $35 non-refundable deposit to ensure your place in the class.

Ballet Camp (ages 3-7)

Participants will spend the week putting together our version of the ballet Cinderella.  Each child will play a part in the ballet and will assist in making props which they will retain as souvenirs of their experience.  The class will perform their ballet for parents at the studio at 12:00pm on the final day of class.

Ballet Technique

Ballet technique is open to students in Levels I-IV and adults.  Please call for placement if you are not a current student.  Class will include barre work, center work, across the floor and combinations/choreography.  An excellent class for any dancer who wishes to stay in shape over the summer.  Students may purchase 7, 14, or 21 classes and may attend at their convenience.

Audition (ages 8 and up--adults welcome)

This class is specifically designed to help the student create a 2 minute audition suitable for summer stock, college, and scholarship auditions.  Students will learn how to choose songs and monologues appropriate for their age and talents and how to put them together to create a "package" that is sure to make auditioners take notice.

Acting (ages 8 and up--adults welcome)

Work on your acting skills whatever your level.  Curriculum will be geared to the level of each student.  Learn basic fundamentals, look at the physical aspects of acting, and learn the art of working together as an ensemble.

Musical Theatre Dance (ages 8 and up--adults welcome)

Come and explore the variety of musical theatre styles.  Each week will feature warm-ups and technique work specific to individual "masters" of musical theatre.  Each week students will learn a combination in the style of that week's "master".

Voice Training (ages 6-12)

This group vocal class will concentrate on sound production, proper breathing techniques, basic music theory and singing together as an ensemble.
